8,013 foreigners bought homes in Spain between January and March, representing 8.63% of all the transactions carried out in the period. The College of Property Registrars highlighted that this rate exceeds the 8.12% of 2012 and added that it “lies near the highs” of the 8.97% of 2006 and “very far” from the 4.24% of 2009.

By nationality, UK citizens still top the list, purchasing 1,194 homes in the first quarter of the year, which represents 14.9% of all the foreign purchases. Following were the Russians, with 721 homes purchased (9%), the French, with 697 (8.7%), and the Belgians, with 594 purchases (7.41%).
